ReefBeat Festival 2019 - Cairns Showgrounds - 7 September 2019. 12pm to 10.30pm
ReefBeat Festival was launched in 2018 in the heart of Cairns City at Cairns Showgrounds. The aim of our festival is to bring together Music, Arts & Cultural performances for a full day of entertainment in celebration of the creativity & biodiversity of our people and our region, all in support of Reef Conservation.
We have formed ‘Reef Partnerships’ with local conservation organisations and their inclusion and participation at ReefBeat Festival is a significant part of our festival purpose. This year we are bringing awareness to 'Turtle Conservation' and we are committed to donating a portion of tickets sales to our Reef Partners.
ReefBeat Festival features a stack of unique creative components that attendees will be able to get involved in & enjoy including large scale art installations & exciting interactive projects that our Reef Partners are bringing along to share at the event.
ReefBeat Festival is an all-day event with amazing live music and cultural performances across three stages. There will be market stalls & a variety of great food options available. This is a licenced 18+ event.
Come and join in the ReefBeat Festival experience and enjoy quality entertainment over 10 hours, all in the heart of Cairns City! What are you waiting for? Come along & find your beat!
ReefBeat Festival proudly acknowledges the Gimuy People as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land in which our event takes place and we recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.

Our major Reef Partners for 2019 are ‘GBR Legacy’.
Great Barrier Reef Legacy is global leader in marine expeditions, delivering innovative science, education and public engagement to accelerate actions vital to the future survival of coral reefs.
We are looking forward to ReefBeat Festival 2019 attendees being able to participate in our
'Virtual Reality - Underwater Diving Experience'.
Tangaroa Blue Foundation is an Australian registered charity focused on the health of our marine environment, and coordinates the Australian Marine Debris Initiative, an on-ground network of volunteers, communities, organisations and agencies around the country monitoring the impacts of marine debris along their stretch of coastline.
We will be supporting other Reef Partners this year and these will be announced soon.
Our relationship continues throughout the year with our Reef Partners and leading up to the Main event you will find us supporting each other at community events in and around the Cairns area such as Port Douglas Carnivale, EcoFiesta and Cairns Festival Grand Parade.
Keep an eye on our Social Media for updates on these pre-events.
Our first pre-event with GBR Legacy was at Port Douglas Carnivale – 24-26 May 2019.
ReefBeat provided Decor, Styling, Production, Advertising and Signage sponsorship & support to GBR Legacy
for the exciting launch of their ‘Virtual Reality - Underwater Diving Experience’, held at the Sugar Wharf all weekend!
Including our help in Decorating their Float to the ‘Silver and Sunshine’ theme for the Carnivale Street Parade.
ARTS PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
The creative components and art installations at ReefBeat Festival and our pre-events leading up to the festival are largely constructed and supported by a number of visual artists in the Cairns community.
This includes established and emerging artists, students, entheusiastic volunteers and community groups.
Each creative component will be coordinated by a ReefBeat Facilitator and we are now taking
‘Expressions of Interest’ from Artists and Creative people and community groups who would
like to be involved and become a ReefBeat Festival 2019 ‘Arts Partner’.
There are a number of creative workshops leading up to ReefBeat Festival 2019 as well as pre-events.
If you would like to be involved with creative projects we would love to hear from you!
Please read the 'Arts Partnership Letter' attached to see the projects we are facilitating to gain a
better understanding of what you would like to be involved with. Then send us an email with your ‘Expression of Interest’ including your skills & experience, especially if you want to be involved in a specific project, so we can ensure you are matched with your interest and skills.
